His Story

Nick Morris was only 17 years old when his life was taken in a tragic shooting at the Deprford Mall in Deptford, NJ on August 05, 1996. What happened that day was senseless — but what Nick did in his final moments was nothing short of heroic.

According to witnesses and family accounts, Nick used his own body to shield his sister when gunfire erupted inside the mall. His sister survived because of him. That act of instinctive courage defined who Nick was: protective, selfless, and full of love for the people he cared about.

Nick was a kind young man with a bright spirit and a strong sense of responsibility. He was the type of brother who looked out for others without being asked, the type of son who made his family proud, and the type of friend who brought warmth wherever he went.

His death left a deep wound in his family and in the community that knew him. But his bravery — the way he chose to protect his sister without hesitation — is remembered w ith honor.

Nicholas Morris was more than a victim of violence. He was a hero, a brother, a friend, and a son. His memory deserves to be spoken with respect, gratitude, and love. Everyone loved Nick and he is truly missed!
