His Story

Dai’Shawn Akeem Grace, also known as “Chef Dai Da,” was a 27-year-old father whose life was senselessly taken on the night of September 23, 2019. After finishing work, Dai’Shawn was on his way home when he was shot while walking along Ridge Way near Maple Street in Munhall, Pennsylvania, a small borough outside of Pittsburgh.

Investigators reported that Dai’Shawn had taken a Port Authority bus from downtown Pittsburgh to Munhall and was walking home when the shooting occurred shortly before midnight. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Dai’Shawn was more than the tragedy that took his life. Known to many as “Chef Dai Da,” he was a father, a hardworking young man, and someone whose presence meant something to the people around him. His family and friends remember him as a person who had dreams, purpose, and a life that should have continued.

This space is dedicated to honoring Dai’Shawn’s life. May we continue to speak his name, celebrate his life, and carry his legacy forward with love so that he is never forgotten.
