His Story

Suadonte Wright was only 14 years old on the night of Monday, March 19, 2012, when his life was taken by gun violence. What should have been another ordinary evening instead became a tragedy that forever changed the lives of those who loved him.

According to police reports, Suadonte was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased shortly afterward. Investigators later ruled the shooting an accident, suggesting the gun may have discharged while it was being handled. However, no firearm was recovered at the scene, and the circumstances surrounding what happened that night have continued to raise questions.

For many in the community, the explanation never fully answered the loss of a young life taken far too soon. Suadonte was only a teenager — a son, a brother, a friend, and a young person who deserved the chance to grow up and live the life that was ahead of him.

His name is remembered here so that his life is never reduced to a statistic and so that his story is not forgotten.
