His Story

Omar McCord Jr., just 18 years old, was senselessly shot on October 25, 2022, in Pittsburgh, Pa. His life was taken far too soon. Although the person responsible was later apprehended, no outcome can ease the heartbreak of losing a child.

Those who knew Omar remember him as a bright spirit with a gift for humor and a personality that could lift an entire room. His teachers and classmates at University Preparatory School spoke of how his wit, warmth, and presence brought smiles to students and staff every day. Omar was determined, resilient, and proud to earn his high school diploma — a milestone he worked hard for and fully deserved.

His loss is deeply felt by his family, his friends, his school community, and everyone whose life he touched. Omar McCord Jr. was more than a victim of violence — he was a son, a friend, a classmate, and a young man with a future full of promise. His memory deserves to be honored, remembered, and spoken with love.
