Everyone Is Waiting

A Foxy Mystery at Blackthorne Reach

Everyone Is Waiting

About the Book

Blackthorne Reach was meant to be restored — not revealed.

When a select group of guests gathers at the historic riverside estate, anticipation hangs heavy in the air. Each has been invited by Julian Blackthorne, the estate’s formidable steward, for reasons left deliberately unspoken. Promises have been made. Expectations set. Resentments quietly nurtured.

Foxy, an observer by nature and a writer by trade, arrives with no stake in the inheritance — only an instinct for noticing what others overlook. As tensions surface and alliances fracture, it becomes clear that the gathering is less a celebration than a reckoning.

Before Julian can complete the announcement that threatens to change everything, he is found dead.

Confined by the river and bound by secrets, the guests are forced to confront what they stand to lose — and what they are willing to do to protect it. As the truth begins to surface, Foxy watches closely, knowing that the most revealing moments occur when no one believes they are being observed.

Somewhere between legacy and ambition, patience and betrayal, someone has been waiting far too long.

Excerpt

Foxy arrived at Blackthorne Reach just as the light was beginning to fade, the river below the estate reflecting a sky that could not quite decide what it was willing to reveal. The house rose from the bank with quiet authority, its windows glowing warmly, as if inviting rather than warning. She had learned long ago not to trust such gestures.

Inside, the air carried the faint scent of polished wood and old paper. Conversations moved easily enough, but Foxy noticed how often voices lowered when Julian Blackthorne entered the room, how laughter arrived a moment too late, how certain glances lingered longer than necessary. It was the kind of gathering where everyone appeared comfortable — and no one truly was.

She accepted the invitation for the same reason she accepted most things: people were most revealing when they believed they were unobserved. And at Blackthorne Reach, beneath the weight of legacy and expectation, Foxy could already feel it — the tension of secrets waiting to be exposed.
